Newborns on Facebook !!!!

How do you feel about facebook accounts for newborns? I have seen few of my female fb contacts who as soon as they become mothers, create a account for their newly born. Sending friend requests from that account to close friends and relatives, tagging the chid in all the related updates, uploading pictures and even at times giving captions as if the baby is saying that.

I know the new parents are obsessed with their kids, it is normal as well, it’s not an easy feat to bring a baby to world. For some period of time their world revolves around their kid; work life, travelling, outings, shopping, food everything is decided keeping the new born in priority. All this is fine, but I fail to understand the rationale of having a fb account with the name of their babies. Is it because they want the world to be updated about their baby activities/ growth and alike. Is it because they want to give their child a readymade account once he/she grows up and take the fb route? Is it because they fear fb won’t be free in the future? Or is it merely a fun activity Or there is some other reason which isn’t popping in my head, please enlighten me if you are aware.

To all the mommy bloggers out there, if you also maintain similar accounts for your child then please make me understand the reason behind it.

And I m sorry if I have hurt your feelings…..

I don’t see the point , when the kid grows up he or she will make it themselves..

I have seen a new born profile too…not sure why the parents create one…perhaps it is to record the child’s progress/milestones etc.

Yes thats one of the reason that pops up but that can easily be recorded in the parent’s personal profile too i guess.

I never knew of something like that. But now that I know, maybe I should create an account for my kids to post their pics/ milestones etc. My own account has such a jumble of people that I hardly post anything personal on it. But that said, I would keep the kids’ account strictly for immediate family and very close friends . Makes sense? πŸ™‚

That does…. May be its a way to keep a personal record of the kids like you said shared with very close friends and relatives…but people who have sent me such requests are neither close nor related.

I think probably they are doing it to record every moment of their child’s life, which would be natural for the 1st time parents!!! But it’s not fair to invite people and torture them with all the little milestones of your child!! For parents every little step of their child is a big thing to be happy about but then parents should keep in mind that it won’t be the case with others….
Why don’t you silence the posts (i know it exists in G+ not sure about facebook though – but must be something) from these accounts as a temporary solution?!

    • onehonestwriter May 20, 2013 at 11:44 am Reply

Exactly it’s neither right nor necessary to bombard every body else with every minute developments of ones child. It’s not about silencing the post, i simply do not accept the request. I just wanted to have more perspective on the new trend in the market.

Really? I haven’t heard or noticed such accounts! Hmmmm.

    • onehonestwriter May 20, 2013 at 8:00 am Reply

That’s possible, but lot of new mommies in my fb circle have made such account.

Hm, I haven’t, I don’t intend to also till Zo wants to. But I have two friends who have, and I am alright with it. No opinions whatsoever, except that perhaps they think it is funny/quirky/cute to do so? Possible?

I can’t help you, coz I don’t have such an account. But have to say, I have some of these parents on my timeline. But I prefer their updates to some who post updates with graphic details of how they cleaned their bathrooms πŸ™‚ I so don’t want to know:)

    • onehonestwriter June 13, 2013 at 6:03 pm Reply

Really, people go to that extent…. I have few who post pictures daily of each n every dress they wear with all the details.
