Should I or Should I not.

In past one week,

 – helped my cousin sis to write college essays for admission in PG colleges
– counselled a friend on why or why  not she should make a career shift, n framed couple of mails on her behalf to send to the HR
– prepared another cousin for college level interviews
– guiding a bunch of students for upcoming placement season
– yet another friend asked my opinion for switching jobs and shifting  to her hometown
– helping my SIL to start her brand of handicrafts/ paper products, wrote mails to organisations that fund such initiatives.
– consulted a friend S on how to patch up wit her 6 months old husband post a major fight where she felt she was mistaken
– one other friend A asked me what should her parents send to her fiancé’ parents place on Holi
– talked to the sister making her realise it is alright when some people don’t like you
This isn’t just one time, it keeps happening with me. Friends, cousins, relatives keep asking for my opinions n POVs on so many things.  In one friend’s words – ‘tere life ke funde clear hai, isliye’. I don’t know about that but all I do is keep a clear picture of the situations in front of these people who seek my support which being stuck in the situation themselves they ain’t  able to analyse.
And now I feel I should probably change my profession and become a counsellor of sorts, should I or should I not?

Sahi hai, if you can give people good advice you can start as a consultant of sorts before you end up in an area of specialization.. Counselling people for future career options seems a good way to start as wel

I think the same, unofficially I have been doing it for years, it seems.

All these incidents clearly indicate that you have the knack and required wisdom. I would say go for it girl 🙂

I guess you must be really good at counselling if so many people took your advice. Why not give it a serious shot 🙂

If you give advice for free, you can always go back to ‘it was my point of view…’
If you act like a ‘counselor’ they would come back and blame you for everything. Take my advice, stick to the free bit 🙂
Kyunki mere bhi life ke funde clear hain, isliye 😀

I would have still gone for the free advice bit for long but I think a basic course would give me more perspective and give me understanding if I really want to go ahead. And you know I feel the role of the counsellor is more of giving direction than making decisions and I have never seen, heard, done myself someone going back to the counsellor.
Btw welcome here, and I know apke bhi life ke funde clear hai, have been reading you from quite a while and was surprised by the similarities in a lot of ways. 🙂

If not makign a decision about career shift, a course will probably throw light on the various dimensions to ocunselling (that I think is a beautiful profession). So, yes, I would say go for it adn then you will know what next from there 🙂
