So this happened in my first year post graduate college. I was this girl who was involved in every thing and every body business was my personal matter. I was the go to person for people. Be it class notes, information about various college things, favors from faculty, placement cell matter….anything and everything.
There was this guy who joined college nearly after 1.5 months late, our first sessional were about to commence the very next week. I went to him, inquired about the reason and without even him asking arranged notes for him to copy & prepare for the exam. Also got him required books from the library. For the whole week I followed up with him, keeping a check on his preps, and developed an amicable relationship. He was very intelligent and picked up very fast.
The semester passed with not even a single personal level conversation with him. He did thank me after that first sessional but that’s all about it. We had a normal hi – hello – smiling relationship two batch mates would share or for that matter I shared with everybody beyond my closed group.
On the onset of next semester, during a lunch break, he came to me saying he has something personal to share with me. I was like go ahead, we were actually walking towards our usual lunch adda.
He – I have feelings for a girl and I don’t know I should convey that to her or not.
(I thought he has come to me like every other person who come to me for suggestions.)
Me – I think you should, keeping such things within yourself really doesn’t help but you have to make sure that what ever her response is, it should neither change you as a person or your behavior towards her.
He – are you in a relationship?
(That’s when it stuck me where it was going (I know you all must be wondering what a tubelight I am) and I had learnt the hard way that saying yes is the best way in such situations.)
I – Yes
He – (Controlling his obvious frown) okay
I – (in my popular nonchalant way and to put him out of his agony) I guess the girl in question is me?
He gave a weak smile. Also we were still by this time, with my favorite people calling me for lunch.
I – Like I said my response shouldn’t change things between us. I can assure one thing that I would be the same me for you. (He gave a relieved smile on that ) And then I brutally added – jaise hum pehle bhi baat nahi karte the ab bhi nahi karenge :P. Nothing changes. Now if you don’t mind I am running late for the only thing I really mind being late at. LUNCH.

And that’s how I stand guilty of crushing his crush :). Now don’t go ahead and make personal opinions against me :P.
Though he kept trying in other indirect, subtle ways but that was the first and last of our one on ones 🙂
Some day if I continue taking part in such blog marathons I will also tell you about my unforgettable and unending crushes 🙂

ab yeh kambaqqt dil ko kaun samjhae..wah! wah! u were the grown up gal in college who goes out of her way to make Mr Miss everyone comfy..hahah! But, one thg the crush thing changes the whole thing among the two person involved, it’s like idealistic to say nothg will change, may be in the start but later the whole equation changes. Hehe! you brought me back to college days in Pune.

I guess so, but I tried to be as normal as possible. Not changing my behavior even a bit for him, not turning rude. Even when he kept trying in other ways, unnecessary keeping a check on my schedule, inquiring about me from common friends etc etc.
